This Healthy Fat May Help Control Diabetes (+ Quick & Tasty Dessert Recipe!)

Fat has received a bad rap over the past decade, but unnecessarily so. If you are focusing on getting healthy fats into your diet, you could be doing your body a whole world of good.

Fats become problematic when you consume fried foods, hydrogenated, or trans-fats. Healthy fats, on the other hand, are packed with vitamins, minerals, and superfood power.

With that being said, I am here to talk to you about one of the most powerful healthy fats!

Avocados.

The Health Benefits of Avocados

If you are looking for a superfood to add to your diet to better control diabetes, avocados may be an excellent choice.

This healthy fat is rich in monounsaturated fat (the healthy kind of fat), and studies have found that those who consume a diet rich in monounsaturated fats while limiting their refined carbohydrate intake have better insulin sensitivity.

That’s impressive news, and one more reason to add avocados to your diet!

Monounsaturated fats have also been found to hold some impressive heart health benefits. As you probably know, it’s important to take care of your heart and even more so when you have diabetes.

Consuming avocados would be a great heart healthy option.

The Avocado Healthy Food Swap

We all know that fat makes things taste better! That’s why many of us love to slather our sandwiches with mayonnaise and add cheese to just about any recipe. That’s because fats just make things taste better, period.

However, not all fats are created equal, and it’s best to find healthier options.

Avocados serve as a great replacement for many unhealthy fat options.

Try using avocado in place of mayo on your sandwiches and wraps, enjoy sliced avocados in your salad, or in your egg omelet.

There are countless ways to enjoy this superfood, and a little avocado goes a long way in making just about any food taste better!
