Two recent studies have found evidence that coffee drinkers have a reduced risk of dying from any cause. Specifically, it seems to prevent digestive and circulatory disease-related deaths, which is great since diabetics are particularly prone to circulatory and cardiovascular problems. While the study authors still say more research is required to confirm this finding, between two to three cups of this brew a day may not hurt.

#2 It Could Help Prevent Diabetes

Dr. Frank Hu of the Harvard School of Public Health found that those who drank more than six to seven cups of coffee daily were 35% less likely to have type 2 diabetes. This was compared to those who drank less than two cups. If you can only manage between four to six cups of coffee each day, you’ll still have a 24% lowered chance of having diabetes. This benefit is apparently present whether you drink caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee.




#3 Coffee Provides Helpful Nutrients

This hot beverage contains a lot of antioxidants. In the body, these molecules prevent cell damage caused by free radicals. It also has the minerals magnesium and chromium, both of which make it easier for the body’s cells to use insulin for blood sugar control.

#4 Women Could Gain a Lower Risk of Stroke

The 2009 Nurse’s Health Study found that women who drank two or more cups of coffee a day had a 20% lower risk of stroke. They also learned that this applied whether the women had diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. Since diabetics have a higher risk of stroke, this is also very beneficial.

#5 Coffee Could Fight Dementia

It’s said that dementia is one of the long-term complications of type 2 diabetes. Thankfully, a 2009 Finnish and Swedish study found that coffee drinkers were at less risk of developing dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. People who drank between three to five cups of coffee daily were 65% less likely to have these conditions.
