3 Fruits That Are Super High In Fiber (+Why Diabetics Should Eat Them!)

Everyone needs more fiber in their diet. It’s not just diabetics who would benefit, but this type of carbohydrate is particularly helpful for them!

How can a carb be good?

Well, the body can’t actually digest fiber. It passes through our system without being broken down or turned into calories.

While it’s doing this, fiber scrubs out our insides. It helps bowel movements pass more easily, cleans away cholesterol in our arteries, and even keep blood sugar levels from rising quickly.

So, why aren’t you eating more of it?

High-Fiber Fruits

Sweet and juicy, fruit helps satisfy your sweet tooth without affecting your blood glucose as much as say a candy bar. This is partly thanks to the fiber they contain that slows the digestion process down. There is a plentiful amount of this substance in the skins of many fruits, but some are naturally higher in fiber than others. Let’s find out which ones are the winners.

#1. Pears

Yes, the average pear offers up about 3.1 grams of fiber per 100 grams of fruit. It’s tasty and one of the best sources of fiber for those who want something sweet. Shaped like a tear drop, pears have a variety of flesh colors including pink, yellow, and green with a slightly gritty texture.

#2. Guava

This green to yellow fruit boasts about 5 grams of fiber per 100 grams of fruit. It is a round fruit that sometimes has a white or pink interior. While you would be more familiar with it as juice, the fruit is what you need to eat for the fiber.

#3. Raspberries

The winner of the fiber war is the raspberry. This cute red berry provides about 6.5 grams per 100-gram serving. It is also very sweet and tangy, making it a great snack when you’re feeling those sugar cravings. You can even blend them up into a smoothie.
