3 Diabetes-Friendly Snacks to Keep Your Hunger Pangs Away

One of the problems diabetics face daily is hunger pangs, and they’re not just cravings for any food! They’re cravings for the sweet, tasty ones!

Giving in to your sweet and carb craving isn’t good since it doesn’t help your blood sugar levels at all. While it may satiate you for a while, the craving will be back, and you’ll soon be craving for more sweets.

To keep hunger pangs away, especially your sweet and carb cravings, you need to add healthy snacks to your diet. It will satisfy all your cravings without wreaking havoc to your blood sugar level. Below are three diabetes-friendly snacks that are good for you.

#1 – Whole-Grain Crackers

You need food high in fiber. Not only can this help slow down your digestion, but high-fiber food also promotes a more gradual release of blood sugars.

Whole-grain crackers are very satisfying. They are rich in fiber and, at the same time, satisfy your hunger pangs. If you want to add a little sweetener to your crackers, choose an all-natural peanut butter that contains less sugar. You can also sprinkle a dash of cinnamon to your peanut butter to give it a little twist.

#2 – Avocado Slices

Nothing beats fresh fruits, so if you’re craving for some sweets, choose a fresh, organic avocado. After removing its pit, slice it up into smaller chunks and drizzle a small amount of balsamic vinegar to give it a tangy kick. Balsamic vinegar has anti-diabetic properties that can help keep your blood sugar levels in check.

#3 – Apple and Pear Cubes

Again, fresh fruits are the best way to keep hunger pangs away, and apples and pears are just the right fit. They’re both rich in fiber, and they’re both sweet, which easily satisfies your sweet cravings without drastically increasing your blood sugar levels.

So the next time your hunger pangs hit you, keep these diabetes-friendly snacks in mind. They’re all very satisfying without worsening your blood sugar levels.
