Do you have type 2 diabetes? Like everyone who has it, you may not feel any symptoms.  Including an exercise program in your daily life can help you get better control of your diabetes. In addition, increasing your level of physical activity could provide you with many other benefits to your health and your life in general.

Physical activity and type 2 diabetes

This is recommendation number 1: increasing your physical activity can lower blood sugar, lose some weight, and keep yourself in good shape. In case of early diabetes, a physical activity more effective than taking drugs. However, it is sometimes difficult to free up time to play sports.

Here are some recommendations to that lower the effects of type 2 diabetes:

  • Start by increasing the daily activity, for example by taking the stairs and going shopping on foot rather than driving. Know that 20 minutes of walking, in addition to the usual activity, may be enough to lower blood sugar.
  • Indulge in activities such as gardening or dog walking, which allow you to walk more or at least not to be seated. Hiking clubs or even picking mushrooms are good excuses to get out of the house.
  • Gradually, you can turn to a real sport, such as swimming, cycling, brisk walking, snorkeling, water aerobics, etc. The easiest way to stay motivated? Register for a group activity on a fixed schedule. It’s up to you to find the activity that suits you best.

Physical exercise is not only good for morale; it is excellent for preventing certain complications of type 2 diabetes, and more specifically cardiovascular disease. Physical activity, combined with changes in eating habits will help maintain or lose weight. The effects of physical activity and subsequent weight loss will combine and make your body’s insulin more effective, which will lower your blood sugar levels.
