This Delicious Smoothie Fights Diabetes

Smoothies are great for busy health-minded people, if the right ingredients are blended. Unfortunately, some smoothies can be either packed with sugar or a little, *ahem*, earthy.

This smoothie is neither of those things and helps fight diabetes!

The following ingredients are the real winners in this smoothie. Take a look at what each has to offer.

Mango

Mango is a delicious tropical fruit that most people associate with high sugar content. While it is indeed a sweet fruit, one study showed that participants that had mango for 12 weeks enjoyed lowered glucose levels as a result.

This isn’t the only study to find such results, prompting many in the health foods community to acknowledge this as an anti-diabetes fruit.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a major anti-inflammatory spice that is known to be just as effective, if not more, than aspirin or ibuprofen. It also helps increase insulin sensitivity, which is exactly what type 2 diabetics are looking for. Just a serving a day can make huge improvements both in inflammation and insulin sensitivity.

Black Pepper

Black pepper seems like an afterthought to a meal, but it is actually one of the most valuable spices on this planet. Black pepper contains a lot of healing qualities, thanks to its high antioxidant count. The antioxidants help stabilize blood sugar and boost metabolism so that both obesity and diabetes are lowered as a result.

Black pepper also has a bioactive compound that works well with turmeric, making the healing spice even more effective at killing cancer cells and reducing inflammation. Though pepper corn and turmeric are both powerful spices on their own, they are doubly effective when combined.

Ginger

Ginger is known as an immunity booster and a digestion soother. Like turmeric, though, it also helps increase insulin sensitivity. Plus, combined with the other ingredients, it is a really delicious and refreshing flavor to add to the mix!

Ingredients

  • 1/4″ raw turmeric root, chopped
  • 1/4″ raw ginger root, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon crush black peppercorn
  • 2-3 cups water
  • 1 mango, de-seeded and diced

Directions

  1. Put everything into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth!
