How to Avoid Frequent Yeast Infections If You’re Diabetic

If you’re diabetic, you’ll notice that you’re more susceptible to yeast infections or candidiasis. This is because yeast tends to thrive better in sugar, and your elevated blood sugar levels can quickly make you more prone to this type of infection.

Symptoms of yeast infection include itching in the genital area, swelling and inflammation of the genital area, redness and rashes in the genital area, soreness in the genital area, painful urination, painful intercourse, and discharge that’s white and lumpy in appearance.

You can avoid frequent yeast infections by following these simple steps.

Wearing the Right Clothes

In addition to yeast thriving in sugar, they also love hot and moist areas. So if you have diabetes, it’s best that you avoid wearing clothes that are too tight like skinny jeans, leggings, stockings, tight shorts, and tongs.

The right type of clothes to wear if you’re prone to yeast infections are jeans and shorts that aren’t too tight, skirts, and dresses. It’s also advisable to wear breathable underwear like cotton underwear.

Avoiding Chemical Irritants

Clothes that always smell nice are great. It makes you smell fresher and feel more confident. Unfortunately, some of the strong chemicals used in laundry detergents and fabric softeners can trigger yeast infections. Douches, scented soaps, scented feminine wash, and even scented toilet paper can also result in yeast infections.

To avoid frequent yeast infections, you need to switch to milder laundry soaps to avoid irritating your genital area. You also need to avoid douches and feminine products since they can disrupt the pH balance and natural bacteria balance, resulting in frequent yeast infections. In fact, it’s best that you simply wash your genital area with warm water.

Yeast infections are very uncomfortable and can be pretty painful, and knowing how to prevent their development can help save you from discomfort.
