5 Easy Tips for Weight Loss With Diabetes

Weight loss is one of the quickest and easiest ways to get type 2 diabetes under control.

The problem?

Not everyone is doing it. While I can definitely understand the comforts of continuing with your daily habits, our daily habits may be slowly killing us. And if you already have a type 2 diabetes diagnosis then that is literally what is happening!

Instead of talking about doom and gloom, let’s look at five easy ways to kickstart that weight loss once and for all.

1. Drink More Water

This seems like a no-brainer, but it is worth mentioning. Water is life force, basically, and is essential to all human functioning. Any other liquid is subpar by comparison, especially if it has any sugar. Instead of your usual drinks, stick with water. (Unless it’s tea, which is tip #3.)

2. Go For a Walk

Not everyone has to be a marathon runner in order to be fit. A single 30-minute walk every night provides many of the same heart-protective benefits as regular exercise. It also moves your blood around so that all of your organs receive a fresh dose of healthy blood, making them function more effectively.

3. Drink Green or Black Tea

Green and black tea are full of antioxidants, which will help protect your body against the damaging effects that come with diabetes. They also help regulate blood sugar so that your glucose levels are more stable throughout the day. There is also an added benefit of weight loss as the prebiotics in these teas prep the gut for nutrient absorption.

Start your day with a cup of black tea and end your day with a cup of green tea to reap the benefits.

4. Get Good Sleep

Sleep is incredibly important for our overall health. It is the way that we solidify neural connections, replenish our energy sources, and conjure up our wildest dreams. It is also the way that we maintain a healthy weight. One of the biggest risk factors for obesity is poor sleep.

One of the biggest risk factors for obesity is poor sleep. Children that have poor sleep habits have an increased risk of 89% and 55% for adults. Do yourself a favor and get some good, uninterrupted sleep each night. It will help your body drop the excess weight more easily.

5. Eat From the Earth

Ideally, we would be eating food exactly as nature intended. Understandably, our current culture doesn’t really support that. Instead of stressing out about not following the rules of a diet, try to simply look at it from an evolutionary perspective.

Consider whether or not our ancestors had access to what you’re about to put in your mouth. If it came from the Earth, then it is probably a pretty good option. Lentils, beans, brown rice, fruits, vegetables and plenty of water are all from the Earth and incredibly healthy.
